Some things never change.  Here, in the pictures below, the city's new branch chipper truck gets broken in on private property. The property is owned by Kelly Costello, the daughter of North Scranton Dem Committee man Mr. Costello, a Doherty crony.
Costello bragged about how he has Doherty in his back pocket. He's a man who speaks the truth and these pictures back him up. This truck, as well as the city's bucket-lift truck (with a crew) made several appearances at this property, a new home under construction at the top of Hollow Ave, which is at the top of W. Market St..
With all the work that needs to be done in so many places around the city, expecially Nay Aug park, which is a disaster, why is this brand new chipper truck and it's crew on private property late in the morning of August 16th, 2005.  It's about 11:30 a.m.  It's election time, that's why.  This is how Doherty buys his votes, WITH OUR TAX MONEY. How do you like it?
There are dozens of fallen limbs and logs at Nay Aug scattered all over the place. But, this is where the chipper truck was working on this day, and it was no 15 minute stop. This truck was here for hours chowing down on branches and limbs cut down on Costello's property.  And, city workers cut them down, too, using the hydraulic bucket truck.
Give the pictures a few minutes to load. Be patient. Enjoy.

It must be nice to have a generous mayor in your back pocket. Isn't that where the rest of us keep our wallets to pay for these types of services.  This isn't cheap work if you had to hire a contractor. A chipper truck and crew can go for up to $250.00 an hour, easily.  A bucket truck can be $150.00 an hour with a crew of two. Then, there's the issue of dumping at $75.00 a ton. How many ton would you guess this truck will hold?  I'll tell you, at least 7 ton, minimum.    Who do you think owns the chain saws used to drop the trees?  You do, just like the trucks and the crews.  Don't wait for the Costello's to thank you, I don't think they expected to get caught.  Neither did Doherty.
     Just for the record.

THIS IS THEFT!!!!
GOING BOTH WAYS.

Take note of the very old tree at the center with the ladder-type branches on it

Here's a closer shot. Maybe you know him. Make the call.

The city chipper truck isn't a unit that can just roam around unnoticed, like most of the pickups. This truck doesn't even leave the DPW compound without a specific destination due to the nature of its specific use. Same for the city's bucket truck.  Both of those vehicles would have needed some clearance from the top to pull this off. Neither the bucket truck or the chipper truck could just slip away for a day without being noticed missing.  Mr. Costello apparently put his order in to his "back pocket" mayor and it was a done deal.
Now, we come to the comp question.  What if these guys got hurt?
How do we know how many workers were hurt on the job or on a Doherty give-away job like this?  This job came with no supervision. At the very least, this guy should have been wearing a back support. The guys on the other side of the truck weren't either.  This guy wassn't even wearing eye protection or gloves.
This is Doherty-style leadership. Like in City Hall, which he filled with totally incompetent and unqualifed crony friends to the tune of a 3.4 million dollar increase in payroll, he has incompetent people out in the field.
Where is the Director of Public Works here?  Maybe that's him in the picture!  He's clearly an incompetent and derelict supervisor in terms of making sure that this truck and its crew are accountable to the residents and taxpayers.  One unqualifed or incompetent crony after another comes to the surface. Wallace, Moran, Elliot, Hailstone, Parker, Fiorini, Farrell and Scopeletti, and counting.............  They all have to go and Dumping Doherty does it.
Who knows what other city equipment was at this site. There was a lot of excavation here, backfill and grading.  Who paid for that?  Taxpayers?  We have to wonder.
At least your tax dollars are at work, JUST NOT FOR YOU.
