The following pictures are of the Rockwell Street bridge in North Scranton. It is a perfect example of our mayor's priorities in that he will pursue projects like the Tree House in Nay Aug Park and construction of a pedestrian bridge to cross the gorge, but completely ignores the infrastructure of a city falling apart, and the safety of its citizens. The pictures speak for themselves.

Why not relocate this deteriorated and badly eroded bridge up to the gorge at Nay Aug Park?  Put it near the falls at the end of the Davis Trail to keep that badly eroded  and dangerous to travel theme going.

Below, the roots of trees keeps this from falling, but when it does, it will be without warning.  If only this bridge was in Green Ridge, it would have been replaced already.

Below, this huge crack simply defies gravity.  It's hard to believe it stays in place.  It's harder to believe I stood under it long enough to take this picture.

Below, this diagonal crack is screaming:  Ready. Set......................

The erosion below took a long time to take its toll, but who is our City Engineer and why hasn't this span been inspected?  Where's the concern for public safety?  I believe Mr. Parker is our City Engineer, and he's fast asleep at the wheel.

In the picture below, you can see the huge separation.  This is a serious threat to fall, and will there be kids fishing below when it does?  Or, will people be passing above and be swallowed up like the sinkhole on Pittston Ave?

Below, the future site of another collapse of a roadway.  This is the Rockwell Ave. Bridge.  Looks OK from here.  Pittston Ave. looked OK from the top, too.  The Fire Chief made a wise decision to advise his drivers to stay clear of this span.

Below, it's hard to tell from this angle, but I couldn't get a better shot.  This is severely crowned, or pushed.  It's a 55' drop to the water.  Hopefully, when it drops, only an old bridge will be in the water, and not unsuspecting drivers or kids walking home from the bus stop nearby.
